Selection concerns affect Burnley’s upcoming opponents before their match at Turf Moor
|Burnley’s next opponents have been hit by injury problems over the international break.
On Saturday, the Clarets travel to Turf Moor to play West Ham in an attempt to get back to winning ways after dropping to the bottom of the table after five straight losses.
In contrast, the Hammers are currently in ninth place after defeating Nottingham Forest 3-2 just before the international break.
But in recent days, forwards Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen have both suffered injuries while playing for their respective countries, dealing manager David Moyes a double blow.
Antonio was absent from Jamaica’s match against Canada, having only played 21 minutes before hobbling off due to a hamstring injury.
Bowen, meanwhile, suffered an unidentified knock during training and was forced to leave the England team.
Due to a personal issue, former Claret Kieran Trippier has also left the team.
Moyes won’t have many options going forward if Bowen and Antonio are both sidelined for Saturday’s match.
Danny Ings, another former Burnley player who has made 12 appearances this season without scoring, might have to be his backup.
Another possibility is Maxwel Cornet, who moved from Burnley to East London in the summer of 2022. He might start out wide and then push Mohammed Kudus into a central role.
In addition to injuries, Vladimir Coufal, a defender for West Ham, was sent home from the Czech Republic’s international camp for “violating squad rules.”
Reports have surfaced that Coufal and two teammates were seen leaving a nightclub before the match against Moldova.
