Sean Murphy’s rehab assignment fixed

The Braves have endured a slew of ailments early this season, beginning with Sean Murphy’s oblique strain on Opening Day against the Phillies.

The All-Star catcher was immediately placed on the 10-day injured list, and it has been a long road back, but there is finally light at the end of the tunnel.

According to MLB.com’s Mark Bowman, Sean Murphy’s rehab assignment will begin next week.

I assume the Braves will approach this rehab assignment cautiously, as they have throughout the process. Murphy will probably spend a week or two at Gwinnett before being called back to the majors. Given how well Travis d’Arnaud and Chadwick Tromp have performed in his absence, there’s no reason to rush things.

Despite having virtually the same players as last year, the Braves offense has been a shell of its former self. The top of the lineup, in particular, has struggled, although they have shown signs of life recently. Having Sean Murphy back will undoubtedly provide a boost, both offensive and defensive.
