Sean Murphy shows to have dodged fatal injury

Last night, the Braves resembled the Braves that the league has grown accustomed to over the last seven seasons.

Max Fried was terrific yet again, striking out 13 in seven innings to set a career record, while the offense hung a pair of crooked numbers. The Braves were led by Ozzie Albies, who hit a three-run homer to put them up.

However, the top of the ninth inning sparked a fright that has become all too common for this squad. With two outs, Sean Murphy walked up to the plate and took a fastball off his tricep.

If you’re going to be hit, that’s not the worst place to happen, one would think. However, Sean Murphy would have to quit the game once the trainer appeared, and this was the graphic.

like’s awful, and it appears like the Braves have had bad luck with injuries this season. Sean Murphy only returned to the lineup last week, and this happened with two outs in the ninth inning and the game comfortably in hand. like’s how the season has gone so far, but it appears like the worst has been spared.

Sean Murphy discussed the injury after the game, calling it “just a big, gross lump.”

We’ll learn more about the situation later today, but Murphy may be able to escape an IL stint, which would be important for both the team and him. He has only appeared in seven games this season after missing nearly two months with an oblique injury. With Ronald Acuña Jr. out for the season, the Braves rely heavily on consistent at-bats to boost their offense.
