Derby County has signed goalkeeper Jacob Widell Zetterstrom from Swedish club Djurgarden for a three-year contract.

The 6ft 6in goalkeeper had been linked with the Rams all summer, but his move was hampered by Djurgarden’s participation in the Europa Conference League’s qualification stage.

Zetterstrom has one full international cap for his country, earned last year in a friendly against Iceland.

He joined Djurgarden when he was eight years old and began his senior career at lower-league team IFK Lidingo before returning to Stockholm and making his debut in 2021.

Since then, Zetterstrom has been Djurgarden’s first choice in goal, appearing in 104 games across all competitions.

Josh Vickers started in goal for the Rams’ opening two games of the season, a 4-2 defeat at Blackburn and a 2-1 League Cup victory against Chesterfield in midweek.
