The Seattle Seahawks have signed Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Cody White to a reserve/future deal. White spent the most of the season with Seattle’s practice squad. This is White’s first team after being discharged from the Steelers’ injured reserve list due to an injury in the preseason.

White joined with the team in 2020. While on the team’s practice squad and active roster for the previous three years, the Michigan State product has managed to remain around, appearing in 16 games over the last two seasons. White appreciates the Steelers organization and has someone in the building to call on in times of need: his father, Sheldon White. Sheldon White is the Steelers’ Director of Pro Scouting.

White appeared in only one game last season, against the Indianapolis Colts, and had one reception for 12 yards. White was undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft. He eventually signed with the Kansas City Chiefs, but was waived before training camp began. White then signed with the New York Giants, but he was dismissed after just a week. Following that, he signed with the Denver Broncos, but was one of the team’s final roster cuts prior to the 2020 season.

White appeared in 15 games for the Steelers in 2021, largely on special teams, but also caught five passes for 33 yards. In his NFL debut against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 3, White caught two passes for 17 yards. His other three receptions came in Week 16 against the Chiefs, where he had three catches for 16 yards.
