Seahawks Sign Ex-Steelers WR
The Seattle Seahawks announced on Monday that they have added Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Cody White to their practice squad.
After being placed on the injured reserve list by the Steelers due to a preseason injury, White has played for this team his entire career. He returned for his second stint with the team after joining it earlier in the season.
White joined the group in 2020. The Michigan State graduate has managed to stick around and has played in 16 games over the last two seasons while being a member of the team’s practice squad and active roster for the previous three years. White respects the Steelers organization and knows he can always rely on his father, Sheldon White, if he needs help. The Steelers’ Director of Professional Scouting is Sheldon White.
White saw action in just one game against the Indianapolis Colts the previous season and had a 12-yard reception. In the 2020 NFL Draft, White was not selected. Before the start of training camp, he was waived by the Kansas City Chiefs, with whom he later signed. White then signed a contract with the New York Giants, but a week later, he was waived. Following that, he signed a contract with the Denver Broncos; however, he was cut from the organization prior to the 2020 campaign.
In 2021, White played in 15 games for the Steelers, primarily on special teams, although he also had five 33-yard receptions. Against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 3, White made his NFL debut by bringing in two receptions for 17 yards. In Week 16 against the Chiefs, he recorded three receptions for sixteen yards. Those were his other three receptions.
