Seahawks give Geno Smith an unforeseen boost before their most recent primetime match

The Seattle Seahawks lost handily to the San Francisco 49ers on Thanksgiving, and Geno Smith came under intense criticism last week during primetime.

In Week 13, Seattle takes on the Dallas Cowboys on a Thursday night for the second straight game, and they will be up against an equally formidable pass rush as the Niners.

But Smith will have a little extra assistance this week as both of the Seahawks quarterback’s starting tackles will be covering him after Abe Lucas was activated from injured reserve.

Lucas hasn’t participated in a game since sustaining a knee injury during the Seahawks’ season-opening loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

The Seahawks have correspondingly placed starting right guard Haynes on injured reserve due to a toe injury. Next to Lucas, rookie Anthony Bradford is expected to take over.

Lucas, a third-round selection in the previous draft, and 2022 first-round left tackle Charles Crossh will face a formidable defense led by edge rusher Micah Parsons of the Cowboys, who leads the NFL in pressures (71), according to Pro Football Focus.

In the 49ers game, the Seahawks allowed 25 pressures while Smith was sacked six times. In order for Seattle to have a chance to pull off a major upset against the 8-3 Cowboys, Lucas must make an immediate impact upon his return and work to prevent Parsons and company from having a similar effect.
