Seahawks Could Trade For Bears Quarterback

The Seattle Seahawks are going through a somewhat awkward period as a team.

Though he hasn’t been a reliable starting quarterback for the team, Geno Smith is the quarterback for the time being. To prevent him from leaving, the team recently inked him to a three-year, $75 million contract in the offseason.

Even though the team might choose to just keep Smith on the field, it doesn’t seem like the best course of action for the team to get back into the NFC race. Alternatively, if they decide to add a better quarterback, they might be forced to use Smith as their backup.

Some people think they might begin their search for a new quarterback in the upcoming offseason. Quarterback Justin Fields of the Chicago Bears is one of the prospective choices that have been associated with them.

Could The Seahawks Be A Trade Suitor For Justin Fields?

According to NFL insider Matt Lombardo, the Seahawks are a team that could be a potential trade partner for Fields. He detailed his thoughts on why he thinks the two parties would work well together.

Fields is undoubtedly a compelling choice for the Seahawks. Though he is a comparable player to Smith, he is a far better choice in the long run.

Despite his struggles with injuries this season, Fields has looked good when he has been on the field. He hasn’t, however, lived up to the anticipation that preceded the season.

Fields has completed 64.4% of his pass attempts for 1,587 yards, 12 touchdowns, and six interceptions in eight games played. In addition, he has 400 yards and a touchdown through the air. Although not bad, there is undoubtedly space for improvement in those numbers.

Smith, on the other hand, has completed 2,918 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions on 64.4 percent of his passes. On the ground, he has 92 yards and a touchdown of his own.

For the Seahawks, switching from Smith to Fields would be a major choice. They would probably try to trade Smith, but given his new contract, that might be challenging.

The Seahawks will undoubtedly be a fascinating team to watch this offseason, but it will take time to see what they do at the quarterback position.
