Ryan Reynolds replies brutally to Birmingham City’s’request’ for USA tie

Birmingham City reportedly proposed playing their League One encounter against Wrexham across the pond.

Ryan Reynolds, Wrexham’s co-owner, has stated that he has no interest in sending their League One fixture against Birmingham City to America.

On Monday, it was claimed that the Blues had considered shifting their League One encounter with Wrexham to the United States. Blues is owned by US financial firm Knighthead Capital Management, while Wrexham was acquired by Laurence Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in 2020.

Tom Brady, an NFL icon, is also a minority investor at Blues, making the club’s upcoming games against Wrexham an appealing offer for broadcasters both home and abroad.

There has never been an EFL fixture played outside of the United Kingdom, and league officials are alleged to have turned down the proposal outright. Reynolds has already informed Wrexham fans that he has no intention of violating English football history by shifting league fixtures to foreign countries.

One Wrexham supporter tweeted Reynolds and McElhenney, saying: “This contradicts every single one of the ‘guiding principles’ you declared publicly before ever purchasing the club. Let’s not become overly greedy and breach promises.” Reynolds quickly responded, “I agree.” And that is why there have been no discussions.

Blues and Wrexham have only played nine times before, and their last meeting was in the League Cup in 2006. There hasn’t been a league match between them since Blues defeated Wrexham 5-2 in February 1995.
