Surprisingly, wide receiver Jaydon Mickens was the only player signed from this lengthy workout list. On Tuesday, he was added to the practice squad alongside defensive end Zach McCloud and former Indianapolis wideout Juwann Winfree. In a matching roster move, offensive guard Lewis Kidd was dismissed from the practice squad.
Meanwhile, following a good performance in relief of Moss against the Pittsburgh Steelers last Saturday, running back Tyler Goodson was signed to the 53-man roster (which may not speak well for Zack Moss’ availability this weekend against Atlanta). In the Colts’ latest victory, Goodson had 11 carries for 69 yards (6.3 ypc. avg.) and 2 receptions for 10 yards.
Mickens, a 29-year-old wideout receiver of the University of Washington, was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2016. He has previously played for the Oakland Raiders, Jacksonville Jaguars, Carolina Panthers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the New York Giants.
He was a former Buccaneers Super Bowl LV champion.
During 38 games, the 5’10,” 174-pound wideout has 15 grabs for 145 yards and two touchdowns. His calling card, however, could be on special teams, where he has experience as a returnman on both kickoffs (35) and punts (69).
