Ronald Acuña Jr blasted by fans over costly mistake

In 2024, Ronald Acuña Jr. has struggled at the plate. However, his fielding error on Sunday night has sparked the most criticism.

In Atlanta’s 9-1 loss to the San Diego Padres, Acuña made a horrible error in the top of the fourth inning. Manny Machado launched an easy fly ball to right field, but Acuña failed to make the play. The error was so severe that the reigning NL MVP appeared to be playing Little League.

Between the error and Acuña’s inability to get anything going with the bat, fans have had plenty of material to mock the Braves star.

Why is he trying to catch the ball at his ankles on the first place

Acuña is recognized for having a powerful arm. He was most likely attempting to get into position to make the catch and prevent the runner from tagging and moving to third, but he failed terribly.

Last season, Acuña hit.337 with 41 home runs, 106 RBI, and an OPS of 1.012. He’s batting.242 with three home runs, 11 RBI, and an OPS of.690 after 41 games this season. Braves fans have previously expressed concern about Acuña’s lack of focus this season, and this misstep will not change their opinions.
