Rival’s player at Birmingham City “not perfect” but improving

Cody Drameh’s ambitions of becoming Leeds United’s starting right-back were all but dashed by his loan transfer to Birmingham City.

Supporters of the Whites were happy to see the Thorp Arch academy graduate return to Leeds this summer to assist them earn promotion back to the Premier League after his recent promotion to the Premier League with Luton Town.

However, Daniel Farke turned to Sam Byram as a free agent and then Djed Spence on a loan move from Tottenham Hotspur after a lackluster start to the season and injury issues, while Drameh made the season-long loan move to Birmingham City.

Given that Drameh’s contract at Elland Road expires at the end of the current campaign, how has the young player fared since moving to St. Andrew’s and could the switch become permanent? For further information on Drameh’s current loan situation, LeedsLive consulted Alex Dicken, a Birmingham FC reporter for Birmingham Live.

Drameh was positively embraced by the team’s fans, who understood the necessity to bolster the right-back position given Ethan Laird’s injury issues. Given that he had only recently assisted Luton in winning promotion and had shone for Cardiff City in the Championship 12 months prior, Drameh was perhaps a more stunning purchase than most people initially anticipated.

I believe he would agree that he appeared a touch rash on his debut. Although it was clear that he had not played much football over the summer, the Blues urgently required him to start matches.

Drameh’s play has significantly improved over the past month to the point that, in the Blues’ triumph over West Brom prior to the international break, he was among their finest performers.

“He had back-to-back assists last week and played outstanding defense. Drameh hasn’t been flawless, but he has become better with pitching experience.”

Eustace agreed with what we all observed, namely that Drameh has improved week by week. Before leaving, he was quite pleased with Drameh’s performances.

“The defender will now have to win over new manager Wayne Rooney.”

It could, in fact, end up being permanent. However, whether Drameh meets Rooney’s needs for his right-back and what Rooney wants from him will likely be key factors.

“It must also be said that Drameh will face a battle to stay in the team once Laird is fit.”

In the majority of Blues’ games, he has consistently delivered. He displays good offensive ability and a sound defensive presence in recent games.

He provided excellent assists against West Brom and Huddersfield. Drameh has so far appeared to be a wise acquisition.
