Rivals Eyeing Blues Striker

Beloved Blues striker Lukas Jutkiewicz has been linked with a move to Blackburn Rovers, who have made an enquiry about the 34-year-old.

According to TEAMtalk, Blackburn has inquired about Lukas Jutkiewicz, who is nearing the end of his contract with the Blues.

Blackburn are looking for a new striker this month to boost their attack, and Jutkiewicz might be a short-term solution. Despite only making six appearances this season due to injury, Rovers striker Sam Gallagher is of interest to Ipswich Town, who have already rejected a proposal.

However, if the price is right, Gallagher may leave Blackburn this window, which is why Rovers are interested in Jutkiewicz.

Jutkiewicz, a beloved figure at St Andrew’s, has been a dedicated servant of the Blues for almost seven years. His original loan spell in the first half of the 16/17 season was successful, with 8 goals in 20 appearances. After a permanent switch in January 2017, he made an impressive 303 appearances and scored 58 goals. With 66 goals for the Blues and countless memories, it would be difficult for fans to see him leave, but with only three starts this season, it appears like Jutkiewicz’s time is almost up.

Jutkiewicz joined Birmingham after playing for Middlesborough, Burnley, and a number of other English clubs, but a January departure may be too soon. The 34-year-old striker might still be a potential bench option for the Blues, who are now 20th in the Championship, seven points behind the drop zone.

With a relegation battle looming, Jutkiewicz’s availability off the bench presents a new attacking option in tight situations where the striker’s famous aerial skills and physical presence might be useful.

Should Jutkiewicz travel north to Blackburn this season, or should the veteran finish out his deal at Blues?
