Baggott previously had loan spells with Kings Lynn, Gillingham, and Cheltenham Town before joining the Pirates on deadline day. The Indonesian sensation scored the only goal for Ipswich in their EFL Cup loss to Fulham in November of this season. He gained most of his EFL experience during a six-month stint at Gillingham, when he played 29 games and scored three goals from August to January. Baggott joined Cheltenham in the January transfer window, but only appeared once.
Taylor emphasized the young defender’s degree of experience, citing his numerous appearances for Indonesia. “He’s probably played more at international level than at club level, it sounds such a strange thing to say,” he said. “He had a successful loan at Gillingham and before at Kings Lynn. It didn’t exactly go as planned at Cheltenham, but he’s a fantastic player. We’re thrilled that he’s picked us as much as we’ve chosen him, and he views this as an excellent opportunity to gain some game time, find his rhythm, and strengthen his game before returning to Ipswich in a better position.”
Baggott is a high-quality player with a lot of promise for his age, and the defender will be an excellent addition to Matt Taylor’s team. The gaffer was asked what Baggott planned to add to the Gas. “Balance straight away in a left sided defender, a clear physical being there and a player we feel has got huge potential.”
