Richard Sherman Admits Honestly About Previous Super Bowl Defeat

Richard Sherman was perhaps the most infamous trash-talker in the NFL a few years ago, despite being one of the team’s top cornerbacks.

He served as the key component of the Seattle Seahawks’ “Legion of Boom” secondary, which was instrumental in their victory in Super Bowl XLVIII.

Seattle returned to the Super Bowl the next season, this time against the New England Patriots. However, late in the fourth quarter, when down to one yard, they made the dubious choice to toss the ball rather than go via star rushing back Marshawn Lynch.

After the throw was intercepted, the Patriots were able to win their fourth world championship under Tom Brady, thus reviving their dynasty.

Watching his quarterback, Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks, throw a game-winning interception against the Houston Texans on Sunday provoked Sherman, he said, since it reminded him of the one Wilson threw in that Super Bowl, according to The Volume.

Sherman remained a superb cornerback, but that formidable Seattle team slowly lost its way after that Super Bowl loss.

He was ultimately selected to the Pro Bowl five times, received three selections to the All-Pro First Team, and instilled dread in the hearts and minds of numerous opposing quarterbacks and wide receivers.

Sherman was released by the Seahawks during the 2018 offseason, and he signed with the San Francisco 49ers—the team that had been the Seahawks’ most formidable opponent earlier in the decade.

Sherman played in another Super Bowl with the Niners in 2019; however, the club lost to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs after blowing a late lead.

Following his retirement following the 2021 season, Sherman co-hosts “Undisputed” with Skip Bayless.
