Report: Birmingham City To Run Checkup On Player After Injury Blow

According to BirminghamLive, Birmingham City will assess Lucas Jutkiewicz’s knee injury ‘imminently’ following his weekend blow.

Birmingham City were defeated 1-0 at home by Watford in their previous Championship game.

Jutkiewicz, 34, was replaced in the closing minutes of the game against the Hornets.

According to BirminghamLive, the Blues will now monitor his condition. The international break also allows the Midlands outfit to assist Marc Roberts, Krysian Bielik, Alex Pritchard, Keshi Anderson, and Siriki Dembele in their recovery efforts.

Birmingham will be hoping that Jutkiewicz is fine and can play in their future games.

The attacker adds useful experience to their ranks and gives them another option from the top.

He has been with St Andrews since 2016 and has made 329 appearances across all competitions, scoring 67 goals, four of which have come this season.

His contract will expire at the end of current term, leaving his long-term prospects uncertain. He is set to become a free agent this summer.

Jutkiewicz has been an excellent servant to the Blues in recent years. He formerly played for Swindon Town, Everton, Coventry City, Middlesbrough, and Burnley before joining his current club.

Birmingham are in a relegation race, and their loss against Watford was another setback.

They are now in 21st position in the table, just above the drop zone on goal differential. They have eight matches left to play.

Jutkiewicz could be forced to sit out for a while, which would be a setback, and the Blues will learn the extent of his ailment in the following days.

Their next game is away to QPR on Good Friday, and they are now one point behind the Hoops in the league. They then play Preston North End at home on Easter Monday.
