Discussions concerning linebackers… Oh, the delights of supporting the Philadelphia Eagles. Let’s just say that when the subject shifts and we start talking about the defense’s second level, argument is both normal and anticipated.

We’ve all found ourselves involved in the fodder. Andy Reid did not care about linebackers. Neither did Jim Schwartz. Howie Roseman took their failure to handle his team’s demands at the position to a new level.

We’ve long wondered around draft time whether this would be the year the tide turned and we broke the jinx. Philadelphia has not picked a linebacker in the first round since 1979 (Jerry Robinson). We doubt it will happen this year, but here is some good news.

This would be an excellent year for the Eagles to address their positional needs in the selection meeting, especially early on. They will not be disappointed.
