Rangers midfielder is set for transfer move to Ipswich Town as club shows exit way

Jamie Murphy believes John Lundstram will leave Rangers next season as his current contract expires.

The former Ibrox star believes the Scouser will not sign a new contract to stay in the Scottish Premiership, as his current agreement with the Light Blues expires in the coming weeks. The 30-year-old has been in talks with Rangers for months about a new contract, but with no agreement in place, he will become a free agent, with English Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town and Trabzonspor reportedly keeping an eye on him.

Boss Philippe Clement has previously stated that he wants to keep the 30-year-old in Govan next season, but Murphy believes the choice is now up to Kieran McKenna’s men and the Super Lig side. When asked if he could envisage Lundstram returning to the Premier League with Ipswich, Murphy told Go Radio: “Yeah, it depends what he is looking for.

“Is he wanting to go abroad or is he looking to play in the Premier League. It’s a choice he has got to make. I don’t think he will stay at Rangers now.

“You see that from all the rumours and stuff coming out. Good luck to him, he has done well for Rangers since he has been there.”
