QB Clearly Describes the Seahawks’ Error at the End of the Rams Loss

The next few days will be spent by the Seattle Seahawks reflecting on this defeat.

In Week 11, the Seahawks defeated the Los Angeles Rams thanks to a touchdown pass from Geno Smith, who was hurt and missed two complete possessions because of a triceps ailment. On the team’s last offensive play, the seasoned quarterback came back, and in just one minute and twenty-eight seconds, he moved the Seahawks 38 yards down the field for a 55-yard field goal attempt by Jason Myers.

But Myers threw the kick wide, and the Seahawks fell short, 17–16.

Smith gave an explanation for the error that caused Seattle to settle for a long field goal. He claimed that the headset malfunctioned and that he quickly called a Zach Charbonnet run, which gained two yards, before spiking the ball with seven seconds left.

To put things in perspective, with 36 seconds left, Seattle had converted on a third-and-eight play with a 21-yard pass to the Rams’ 39-yard line.

The headset malfunction meant that even with all that time, the Seahawks could only gain two extra yards for Myers’ field goal kick.

Pete Carroll Explains Seahawks’ Mindset During Final Sequence

The Seahawks didn’t perform as well as they would have liked during the two-minute drill, according to head coach Pete Carroll’s post-game remarks.

Carroll stated, “No, we didn’t handle that as well as we’d like to,” at the November 19 press conference following the game. However, we entered field goal range. After arriving, we had a shot. Jason has already kicked balls that far. It’s obvious that we weren’t closer, even though we would have loved to be. Yes, there are some options there when it comes to run play and clocking the ball. I would concur with that.

When questioned about the last play, the run play in particular, Carroll gave an explanation for the thought process behind the Charbonnet run, which gained just two yards.

Carroll said, “We didn’t do it right.” “Let me just tell you what I know. We performed it improperly. We didn’t accomplish that precisely how we had hoped to. It was not well received. We’ll go into further detail about that tomorrow, November 20.

Carroll had expressed his desire for a longer play call as well.

Carroll responded, “You’re hoping you pop it, for sure. “We could have done that more cleanly,”

Jason Myers Gives No Excuses for Missed Kick

Myers was a hero until the Rams defeated him, only one week after he made the game-winning 43-yard field goal in a 29-26 victory over the Washington Commanders.

The seasoned kicker, who had previously made kicks from 52 and 54 yards, had no explanation for his miss.

“Very nice,” Myers exclaimed. Good grasp. simply fell through.

Carroll emphasized that, despite the miss, he still has faith in his seasoned kicker going forward.

“That’s a long-range objective,” Carroll remarked. There isn’t a better guy in the world to kick that one. Jason has been playing excellently; this time, he just didn’t get a good hit on the ball. He’s the ideal player to help us win this game. Obviously, we know that.”
