Pundit Speaks Concerning Leicester City Transfer Claim

According to pundit Carlton Palmer’s exclusive interview with Football League World, Leicester City is anticipated to seek at least £15 million for Inter Milan target Kelechi Iheanacho in January.

A possible price tag has now been offered for the 27-year-old, who has drawn interest from a number of Premier League and European teams ahead of the forthcoming January transfer window.

Iheanacho is still in battle with seasoned attacker Jamie Vardy despite having made 13 appearances for the Foxes this season. In all competitions, Iheanacho has assisted two goals and scored five goals.

Similar to this, the Foxes are now leading the Championship table, two points clear of Ipswich Town and ten ahead of the chasing pack. The team has won ten of their first eleven games and have only lost once in league play.

This weekend, they play at Swansea City. The Nigerian international was the focus of multiple transfer rumours during the summer transfer window, but he ultimately decided to stay with the Championship team after being demoted from the Premier League the previous season.

Similarly, Iheanacho is also earning Premier League wages which means his decision to stay is having a financial impact on the Championship side.

Talking to Football League World, he stated…

“Inter Milan are the latest club to be running the rule over Leicester’s Kelechi Iheanacho, Leicester sit top of the Championship, and Iheanacho has scored three goals in his last three games.

“Leicester have a decision to make over the Nigerian international, he’s still earning Premier League wages, and his contract is up in the summer.”

Regarding his price tag, Palmer added…

It won’t be what they could have got had he gone this summer, but I think Leicester will be looking for £15 million plus, or they may take a view to keep him until the end of the season and get promoted and see where they are then.”

The Foxes will have a tough choice to make in the coming weeks as the Nigerian international seems to have returned to his previous level of play.

If Leicester doesn’t try to tie Iheanacho down to a new deal, he might go for free in the summer, forcing the Foxes to cash in on their striker. That much is unknown, though.
