Pundit responds to the shocking Birmingham City update: “From what I’m hearing.”

The dismissal of manager John Eustace by Birmingham City has drawn criticism from pundit Carlton Palmer.

Eustace’s dismissal by the Blues on Monday was unexpected given that the team had 18 points after its first 11 games and was currently sixth in the Championship table.

Birmingham made it two wins in a row after defeating West Bromwich Albion 3-1 on Friday after defeating Huddersfield Town 4-1 on Tuesday, but the team decided it was time to make a change.

The board of directors announced in a statement on the club’s official website that Wayne Rooney, a former manager of DC United and Derby County, is anticipated to be named as Eustace’s replacement in the near future.

The new manager will be “responsible for creating an identity and clear ‘no fear’ playing style that all Birmingham City teams will adopt and embrace.”

Eustace has been in charge at St Andrew’s since July 2022, and during the previous campaign, he guided the team to a 17th-place finish.

What was said by Carlton Palmer?

Palmer, who spoke exclusively to Football League World, criticized the Blues for firing Eustace, but he thinks the 43-year-old will soon be back at work.

“I find it incredible that John Eustace has been sacked as manager of Birmingham City,” Palmer stated.

“I have some sympathy for the managers and players when fans discuss their commitment to their favorite players and coaches.

“Why demonstrate loyalty when you’re treated this way?

“You have to do the best thing for yourself as a player and manager, that’s all you can do these days.”When the new owners first moved in, Mark Hughes was connected to them.

“The owners are American, and it seems obvious that Wayne Rooney will be hired as their next manager.

“I don’t know if firing John was the right decision, but it amazes me that they fired him while they were sixth in the Championship, winning their past two games, and defeating their neighborhood rivals West Bromwich Albion 3-1 the last time out.

According to what I’ve heard, the football director Gardner played a key role in the firing because he wanted to see more entertaining football.

We all want to watch more exciting football, but the fact of the matter is that managers work in a field where success is determined by results, and the pressures placed on the game nowadays prevent them from having the luxury of time.

I’d like to hear Gardner’s opinion on it if they play exciting football but lose every week or don’t achieve the required results. It will be intriguing when they hire a new head coach.

John, I’m sure, will be back in work soon enough given the job he has done in difficult circumstances.

Was it proper for Birmingham City to fire John Eustace?

It is tough to disagree with Palmer that firing Eustace was a very harsh action.

Despite working under challenging conditions, Eustace did a great job keeping Birmingham out of any relegation concern last season, and his team made a promising start to the new season.

Rooney did a commendable job at Derby, but his track record as a manager overall makes it unclear whether he is the best candidate to instill the winning attitude that the board has wanted.

The club is in a solid position in the table, so replacing Eustace would be a massive risk and seem like an unneeded gamble.
