‘Probably be disappointed’- Kieran McKenna makes accusation about Leeds after…

Kieran McKenna makes accusation about Leeds after the Whites won again last night.

Kieran McKenna, manager of Ipswich Town, has highlighted the Championship’s automatic promotion chase after his club, Leeds United, and Leicester City all won again.

The Tractor Boys once again demonstrated their late-game recovery abilities, coming from 2-1 down to defeat Bristol City 3-2, despite missing a penalty with the score level in the 87th minute.

Leeds, meanwhile, returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 1-0 success over Stoke City, ending their run of nine consecutive league victories at Huddersfield Town on Saturday. Leicester City also broke their three-match losing streak with a 1-0 victory over Sunderland.

It has been said numerous times this season, but the division’s top four teams are setting a pace never seen at this level before.

Leeds’ 76 points after 36 games would put them comfortably in the top two in any other season, but they are only third this time around.

McKenna keeps focus amid crazy points tallies

Speaking on Sky Sports following last night’s encounter, Ipswich manager McKenna thinks it is critical that they continue to ignore what the other three clubs do, adding they would ‘probably be dissatisfied’ if they were not clear with their tally.

He said, “No, we don’t. We don’t mention other teams’ fixtures, and that’s the ideal way because if we concentrated on other teams’ performances, we’d definitely be unhappy because with 78 points with 10 games left, in a normal season, we’d probably be well clear at the top of the table.”

It’s unbelievable that Leeds have 31 points out of a possible 33 in 2024 and are still not in the automatic promotion places.

After a slow start over the holidays, Ipswich have won six league games in a row, and the season is shaping up to be a fantastic finale.

Leeds have refused to discuss the margin throughout the season, and there is no reason why this should alter now that the season is coming to a close.
