Potential Raiders Trade Agreements: Las Vegas Raiders Need A QB
Davante Adams, a 31-year-old player with the Las Vegas Raiders, will likely be among the team’s oldest players in 2024. The team has only four players over 30 under contract for 2024.
The Raiders’ new head coach, Antonio Pierce, may prioritize developing young players. ESPN’s Aaron Schatz proposed a trade involving Adams and the No. 13 pick to the Arizona Cardinals for the No. 4 pick.

Will the Raiders utilize that pick on a quarterback? No. Schatz believes the Raiders will choose former Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. to replace Adams.
“Is Adams happy in Las Vegas? “He says yes, but his role may change with a new coaching staff,” Schatz wrote in his February 23 column. “With Adams nearing 32 this year, it might make sense for the Raiders to move on from his hefty contract.
“So, how about trying to replace Adams with prized wide receiver Harrison? A significant trade up the draft board would help the Cardinals enhance their receiving corps with Adams while also providing them the 13th overall choice to bolster their league-worst defense in 2023. The Raiders might receive possibly the best receiving prospect in years on a rookie contract.”
Harrison is predicted to be the first wide receiver taken in the 2024 NFL Draft, having won the Fred Biletnikoff Award for the finest wide receiver in college football in 2023.
This Trade Would Make Some Sense for Las Vegas Raiders
While Davante Adams is still a team captain and plays at an exceptional level, it’s easy to see why the Raiders are looking to bring in younger players at the position. Marvin Harrison Jr. is one of the top wide receiver prospects to reach the NFL in years. He has 2,474 receiving yards and 28 touchdowns in his last two seasons at Ohio State.
Furthermore, he is still only 21 years old, thus he has the potential to be a top wide receiver for many years. Giving up Adams and the 13th selection for Harrison is a high price, but the Raiders won’t have to worry about the wide receiver issue for a long.
For the Cardinals, this move is less logical. The team needs a wide receiver, and Kyler Murray may thrive with Adams. However, the Cardinals are a fairly young team, and Adams does not fit into their timeline. Harrison would provide them with a young wide receiver who could develop with Murray for years to come.
Las Vegas Raiders Need a QB
Another difficulty with the prospective ESPN trade is that the Raiders require a quarterback. Marvin Harrison Jr. is excellent enough to make a quarterback’s job easier, but if the team makes a major deal in the draft, it will most likely discover a franchise quarterback.
Davante Adams struggled to get the ball consistently with Aidan O’Connell, making it unlikely that the quarterback will be able to send the ball to Harrison more successfully. Harrison will be a fine NFL player, but the Raiders have far more pressing needs than a wide receiver with a top-five choice. However, general manager Tom Telesco is not afraid to pick wide outs early. In 2017, with the Los Angeles Chargers, he drafted Mike Williams with the seventh pick.
