Possible XI between Ipswich v Millwall as defender returns to the team

The latest Ipswich Town team news as Kieran McKenna’s side prepares to face Millwall in the Championship later today.

Ipswich Town are back on the road this evening after a 2-2 draw with West Brom at Portman Road. Tom Fellows put the Baggies ahead in the first half, Nathan Broadhead equalised in the second, and John Swift put the visitors ahead. Omari Hutchinson then hit late in extra time to save a point.

Ipswich is now 4th in the table, after being 2nd for most of the Championship campaign. They are six points behind Leeds United, who have reclaimed their previous position in the automatic promotion spots with two games in hand.

Kieran McKenna’s squad won the opposite encounter against Millwall 3-1 at Portman Road. Conor Chaplin, Massimo Luongo, and Broadhead scored to put the Tractor Boys up three goals at halftime, with Kevin Nisbet scoring the Lions’ consolation goal.

According to TWTD, McKenna is now dealing with injuries. The Millwall match will come too soon for midfielder Jack Taylor, who has a quad problem.

Cameron Burgess was in contention to return to the squad against West Brom but ultimately missed out. Perhaps the defender is back in the fold for this game following Asian Cup duty with Australia.

George Hirst remains out of action for Ipswich Town after suffering a hamstring injury against Leicester City on Boxing Day. Defender Janoi Donacien is also out due to a groin injury.

McKenna would have no reason to change his squad significantly from the previous game, given that a draw against an in-form West Brom side is not to be taken lightly.

There is speculation that Burgess could return to the starting lineup in place of Luke Woolfenden or George Edmundson. However, it may be premature to return the centre-back to the starting lineup.
