Phillies Finally Sign Trout in Trade Idea

For a long time, one of the main aspirations of Philadelphia Phillies supporters has been to see Mike Trout play for the team at some point during his career.

He grew raised in Millville, New Jersey, and is a lifelong follower of Philadelphia sports, having season tickets to several clubs. However, when Trout signed a mammoth 12-year, $426.5 million deal extension with the Los Angeles Angels, it appeared that his goal of playing for the Phillies was over.

However, with the Angels failing throughout his time and Shohei Ohtani moving this offseason, trade rumors around one of the game’s top players have resumed. Los Angeles might call it quits on this era and begin rebuilding.

Yardbarker’s Michael Carptenter believes that is what the Angels should do, and that selling Trout to Philadelphia would bring back the type of return that would kickstart these efforts. “It’s time for the Angels to offer one of this decade’s best players an opportunity to fight for a postseason spot by trading Trout to a contender like the Philadelphia Phillies…

In addition to Castellanos, the Phillies boast four Top 100 prospects, including pitchers Andrew Painter and Mick Abel, as well as position players Justin Crawford and Aiden Miller. If that happened, it would be a tremendous blockbuster.

Not only would the Phillies finally obtain a player whom all of their supporters wanted to see play for the organization, but they would also trade out their top four prospects and slugger Nick Castellanos to do it.

Trout would replace Castellanos in right field in a like-for-like deal, but any club would find it difficult to give up that much for a single player, regardless of their greatness.

If Trout hadn’t been plagued by injuries for the past three seasons, a deal of this scale could be worth discussing, but with Philadelphia already on the books for their largest salary ever, signing the superstar outfielder remains a pipe dream.
