Philadelphia Eagles Will Make Surprising Roster Moves Before 2024 Season

When it comes to roster cuts, the Philadelphia Eagles will be an interesting team to monitor.

With the NFL offseason winding down and most changes now completed, teams are gearing up for training camp and preseason play. Along with this stage of the offseason and the start of those crucial weeks building up to the regular season, come roster cuts.

This offseason, Howie Roseman acquired a lot of quality to the squad, particularly in the defensive secondary. This could result in a few unexpected moves.

One such move appears to be on its way. The Philadelphia Eagles could make a stunning defensive roster change before the 2024 season.

Philadelphia Eagles Could Make Shocking Roster Move Prior To 2024 Season

NBC Sports Philadelphia highlighted a potential cut candidate that would be extremely surprising. The contender is none other than veteran cornerback James Bradberry.

Here’s what they said regarding the Philadelphia Eagles possibly cutting Bradberry.

Despite a disappointing season in 2023, Bradberry remains on the roster for now. While (Howie Roseman) stated at the Combine that Bradberry was part of the Eagles’ intentions, the team chose defensive backs with their first two picks. Cutting Bradberry after June 1 would reduce the dead cap hit over the next two seasons, making it more manageable. Perhaps the Eagles will look at their young players at camp before making a choice.

Bradberry would be an unexpected departure, given his role in the Eagles’ secondary. During the 2023 season, he appeared in 16 games and recorded 54 total tackles, one fumble recovery, an interception, and 13 passes defended.

Those numbers are solid. However, the Philadelphia Eagles did sign Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean this offseason in the 2024 NFL Draft. Both of these youngsters will be able to make an immediate impact this season.

It would be a sensible decision for the Eagles to save money while allowing the youthful explosive talent to play. Moving on from Bradberry makes perfect sense if the two young players demonstrate their readiness in training camp and over the preseason.

If the Eagles released Bradberry, he would be able to find work quickly. Many NFL clubs are in need of cornerback help. In fact, Philadelphia may be able to locate a trade partner rather than cut him.

Expect to hear more whispers about the Philadelphia Eagles as the season approaches. They’ve been busy this offseason, and it appears like they will continue to be in the coming weeks.
