Pete Carroll speaks out about Jamal Adams making fun of a reporter’s wife
Pete Carroll discusses Jamal Adams’ contentious social media posts following the Seahawks’ Week 14 loss to the Cowboys.
Pete Carroll, the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, stated that the team has already discussed with Jamal Adams the safety concerns raised by the recent social media scandal that followed the team’s Week 13 loss to the Dallas Cowboys (via Greg Bell of The News Tribune).
“We’ve already addressed (it),” Carroll said. “I don’t know if it was a great decision at the time. I’m not sure about the details of it, but I know that he realized that he needed to take it down. … “We don’t want to be a part of that.”
Caroll was, of course, referring to Adams’s post on X (formerly Twitter), wherein he included a picture of a reporter’s wife along with the caption, “Yikes,” in response to an earlier post by the same reporter detailing Adams’s being set on fire by Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson during the Seahawks’ 41-35 loss in Arlington.
Regarding Adams’ since-deleted post, the Seahawks felt compelled to speak with him. Seattle could not, and should not, tolerate such behavior from its players as a professional organization. Adams is fully entitled to respond to criticism and stand by his actions, but making fun of someone’s family is not the best way to do so.
At this point in the season, when the Seahawks have dropped to 6-6 after losing their previous three games, Seattle cannot afford to get sidetracked. They are still in the running for the playoffs, but things won’t be getting any easier for them. In Week 14, they’ll face the fierce San Francisco 49ers, and in Week 15, they’ll square off against the Philadelphia Eagles, the defending NFC Champions.
