The Rams are still aiming to put the finishing touches on the squad before the window closes on Friday.

Paul Warne is still looking to sign a striker and a centre-back before the transfer window closes tomorrow night.

The Rams are still looking for up to three players as they try to complete their summer roster. A striker is definitely the first priority, with the Rams hoping to land a loan deal or enter the free agent market if necessary.

Speaking ahead of the Championship match against Bristol City on Saturday (3pm), the Rams’ head coach stated, “I want something along the top line. If I can’t obtain a nine that outperforms the nines we have, I won’t acquire one.

“I’m not going to get a nine to come in as the fifth choice. If we can get a nine, that’s amazing. We’ve always wanted to be physically present.

“If we don’t get the nine and a better seven, 11, or 10 comes in, we’ll have to think about it. We want another defender because, while Eiran Cashin’s injury was minor, if something had occurred to Sonny Bradley against Barrow, we could have gone from September to January with only one centre-back.

“I understand that people can fill in, but this is not a league where people can simply ‘fill in’. In League One, you can get away with that in some and many games because you have a lot of possession.

“But in the Championship, you can’t just have a left-back or a right winger play centre-back for six games because you’re likely to get tucked up. We’re striving to enhance those roles and recruit the proper personnel for the club.”
