Kansas City may have to start preparing for the future at some key positions.

As the Kansas City Chiefs embark on another path to their third consecutive Super Bowl appearance, a somber thought has begun to creep into supporters’ minds. First and foremost, Travis Kelce is approaching 35 years old and presumably has only a few seasons left.

Patrick Mahomes is no longer the youthful, rising star he once was, even if his on-field performance doesn’t reflect this. In a recent session, he even recognized to himself that he is “getting old,” but not for the reasons one might expect.

Patrick Mahomes needs to update his music taste

Fortunately for Chiefs fans, Mahomes does not appear to be old, either physically or intellectually. Instead, he thinks he’s becoming older owing to his obsolete knowledge of new music. In the video, Mahomes tells his teammates, “It’s insane to me how much music I don’t know out here.” “As if I knew I was getting older.”

Whether we like to acknowledge it or not, Mahomes is getting older in football standards, but this is less of an issue at quarterback than at other positions. Mahomes should be able to play at a high level for at least another decade, assuming his health holds up.

However, it will take some time to adjust to the new and younger faces that enter the Chiefs locker room each offseason. The only offensive players older than the quarterback are Kelce, Carson Wentz, Joe Thuney, and Justin Watson.
