Patrick Mahomes Opens Up Concerning Taylor Swift Bringing More ‘Revenue’ and ‘Buzz’ To The NFL

Patrick Mahomes and Taylor Swift are two players that clearly understand one other.

Both are GOATs in their own businesses, and while the pop artist has sold out stadiums and broken record after record, Mahomes has three Super Bowl championships with the Kansas City Chiefs. Now, the quarterback is addressing the impact the pop star has had on the NFL since she began dating Travis Kelce, stating that she has increased “revenue” and “buzz” in the league.

Patrick Mahomes was responding to remarks made about him in a TikTok for Complex Sports, and during it, he read out this statement about him and Swift being on the cover of Time Magazine:

No hate, Patrick Mahomes is unquestionably the best QB in the league and when it’s all said and done has a chance to be the GOAT…but Tim Magazine cover? Taylor Swift (I hate to say it) generated more revenue/buzz for the Chiefs by sitting her ass down in the box seats.

That is true. But she was like the Time Person of the Year a couple months before that so. It’s really cool to be on the cover of Time. It does help when you’re best friend and your homie’s dating the most famous woman in the world.

To provide some context, Taylor Swift was named Time’s Person of the Year in 2023, and they published an article in which she discussed preparing for the Eras Tour, the phenomena surrounding the tour, and Swift’s future projects. Then, when the same magazine released its 100 Most Influential People this year (as opposed to its Person of the Year), Patrick Mahomes, who recently won his third Super Bowl with the Chiefs, was one of the cover stars.

Both of them experiencing these events is what prompted the statements about the artist generating hype for the sport. Overall, the football player handled the situation gracefully, accepting that the pop singer has increased attention and, most likely, income for the NFL.

Patrick Mahomes has never denied the reality of the issue. He recognizes the popularity of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s connection, and he and his wife Brittany Mahomes have formed a bond with her. He once conducted a Cheifs interview in which he was repeatedly asked about the vocalist, and he praised her, referring to her as “part of the team.”

The quarterback’s answer to this comment regarding him and Swift’s impact on the NFL seems sincere, and he clearly admires both the pop star and her partner (who also happens to be his best friend). Essentially, I’m stating that there is no “Bad Blood” between these two GOATs, and they are both “The Man.”
