The Kansas City Chiefs training camp is only a few days away, and Patrick Mahomes is already on the radar. This tense meeting with Andy Reid was captured on tape, and it shows the Chiefs head coach walking away from his quarterback in anger after one specific behavior sparked the rift.
Following their Super Bowl LVIII victory, the Chiefs’ expectations are sky high once again as they seek a rare NFL three-peat. However, behind the surface, Kansas City is a team that had a turbulent regular season in 2023, is dealing with a media circus off the field as a result of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, and had to battle a lot of legal issues in the summer.
Andy Reid walks away from Mahomes
Their quarterback, two-time NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes, is the undisputed leader of the close-knit squad, but his attitude during practice is getting under Reid’s skin.
The video from Chiefs social media shows Mahomes, Kelce, and others, including standout defensive lineman Chris Jones, participating in ridiculous actions described as a “special language only football players speak.”
Reid clearly does not speak the same language. When Patrick Mahomes displayed unusual conduct, Big Red turned away from him and went away. According to a subsequent social media post, Mahomes believed that the reaction was unjustified.

“why coach walk away like that!” In response to the Chiefs’ video, Mahomes commented on X, which was previously Twitter. His message contained multiple laughing emojis, indicating that neither of them took the discussion too seriously and saw the comedic side to his antics.

That “language” mentioned in the film may be appealing to football players, but it appears Andy Reid is not on the same page. The Kansas City Chiefs’ training camp will begin in full on Sunday, July 21.
