Pat McAfee’s funny reaction to Kirk Herbstreit’s Rose Bowl Hall of Fame induction has fans in stitches

“The Guy’s In The Hall Of Fame For Speaking And They Didn’t Have Him Speak” Pat McAfee’s Hilarious Response To Kirk Herbstreit’s Rose Bowl Hall Of Fame Induction Leaves Fans In Stitches

Kirk Herbstreit, the former Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback who has five touchdowns and 11 interceptions in his undergraduate career, will not be inducted into the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame.

During his stint at Ohio State, the Buckeyes finished two seasons in the Hall of Fame Bowl, one in the Liberty Bowl, and one in the Citrus Bowl—a modest record to say the least.

Herbstreit, on the other hand, has more than made up for his playing days by returning to the Rose Bowl on numerous occasions as a commentator rather than a player. He was inducted into the bowl’s Hall of Fame alongside former Columbia quarterback Cliff Montgomery and Washington offensive lineman Lincoln Kennedy, in recognition of his amazing 15-year run as a game commentator.

Despite the award, Herbstreit did not address the audience at the ceremony, which made fellow ESPN College GameDay panelist Pat McAfee giggle.

“The guy’s in the Hall of Fame for speaking, and they didn’t have him speak. I don’t know what that’s all about,” quipped the former West Virginia kicker/punter. “Congrats, though.”

Herbstreit is expected to make his 16th appearance as a Rose Bowl commentator on Monday afternoon. He’ll provide analysis for the College Football Playoff semifinals matchup between No. 1 Michigan (13-0) and No. 4 Alabama (12-1). The game will begin at 5 p.m. ET on ESPN.
