Panther Pro Gaddis Visits Atlanta with Guardians

Hunter Gaddis, a former Georgia State baseball standout who now pitches for the Cleveland Guardians, returns to Atlanta this weekend to play his first Major League game against the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park.

From 2017 to 2019, Gaddis was one of Georgia State’s best pitchers, earning the school record for lowest career ERA at 3.81 in three seasons. The two-time All-Sun Belt Conference pick has 14 victories and is second in GSU history with 277 career strikeouts (9.35 per nine innings), fourth in innings pitched (266.2), and sixth in games started.

Gaddis, a Canton, Georgia native who attended Sequoyah High School in Metro Atlanta, became Georgia State’s highest draft pick in history when the Cleveland Indians selected him in the fifth round (No. 160 overall) of the 2019 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

The right-hander advanced fast through the minor league leagues until making his Major League debut with the Guardians on August 5, 2022, becoming only the second former Georgia State player to reach the Majors.

Gaddis is off to a solid start this season as one of the Guardians’ finest relievers, with a 1-0 record and 0.00 ERA in 13 outings. He has 16 strikeouts over 12.1 innings.
