Packers release Aaron Jones due to contract uncertainty

Packers are attempting to cut their salary cap amount before the start of free agency.

Running back has been the position in the NFL that suffers the most financial penalties. Aaron Jones of the Green Bay Packers is learning this throughout the offseason, as the organization and his agent Drew Rosenhaus work to cut his salary-cap figure.

According to published sources, the Packers want to bring Jones back for the 2024 season, but that will likely be contingent on the two sides reaching an agreement on a salary-cap number.

Jones is set to make $11 million next season, with a roster bonus of $258,000 per game and a $500,000 workout incentive.

It may appear to be an unusual tone for the Packers to adopt, given the team’s great offensive balance in the two playoff games.

The Packers shocked the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card round and nearly beat the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional playoffs.

Aaron Jones was on top of his game in both postseason games, surpassing the 100-yard mark. He also scored three touchdowns in the win over the Cowboys.
