On Wednesday, Patty Gasso made her fourth update to the portal this summer.

Oklahoma’s pitching staff received a lift on Wednesday.

Isabella Smith, a former Campbell pitcher, revealed her commitment to OU on Wednesday via her Instagram account, becoming pitching coach Jennifer Rocha’s first recruit this offseason.

Smith tossed 206 innings for the Camels last season, starting 30 and appearing in 42 games.

The right-hander finished the year with a 2.01 ERA, striking out 238 batters and walking only 69.

Opponents struck. The experienced pitcher allowed 181 hits, including 12 home runs, 21 doubles, and three triples.

Smith pitched 18 complete games, including two no-hitters against UNC Wilmington and North Carolina A&T. She also limited Duke to four hits on April 10, helping Campbell defeat the then-No. 3 Blue Devils 3-2.

She had a 2.65 ERA as a redshirt sophomore in 2023, with 241 strikeouts in 241 1/3 innings.

Smith will have one year of eligibility left.

Patty Gasso has now completed four of her five required contributions via the portal.

First, the Sooners signed former North Carolina catcher Isabela Emerling before winning the contest for Utah outfielder Abby Dayton.

On Tuesday, former BYU shortstop Ailana Agbayani announced her switch to Norman.

Oklahoma will attempt to add another arm through the portal to boost its pitching numbers in 2025, while the softball world waits for 2024 USA Softball Player of the Year NiJaree Canady to make her transfer choice.

The brilliant three of Kelly Maxwell, Nicole May, and Karlie Keeney graduated after the Sooners won their fourth national title earlier this month.
