OU Softball: Oklahoma signs former Big 12 shortstop

Patty Gasso made her third addition from the transfer portal.

Patty Gasso added valuable experience to her infield on Tuesday.

Ailana Agbayani, a former BYU shortstop, revealed her commitment to the Sooners on Tuesday via Instagram.

The sophomore also pitched in a pinch for the Cougars last season.

Agbayani will lead the Cougars with a.424 batting average in 2024. She also drew 30 walks and concluded the season with a.534 on-base percentage.

Agbayani was a consistent threat on the basepaths, recording nine doubles, two triples, and five home runs. She stole 12 bases in 15 attempts.

In the circle, the right-hander went 23 innings with a 5.78 ERA.

The new Sooner is very familiar with Love’s Field, having led the Cougars to a victory over OU in Norman on April 12.

She went 4-for-5 at the plate, with two RBIs to help BYU defeat Oklahoma.

Agbayani is Gasso’s third transfer portal addition, after former North Carolina catcher Isabela Emerling and former Utah outfielder Abby Dayton.

The Sooners have two openings left to fill through the portal, and both are anticipated to be pitchers.
