Orlando Pirates confirm fan favorite’s seventh exit

The Orlando Pirates have confirmed the release of a long-time fan favourite, bringing the total number of departures to seven ahead of next season.

The Orlando Pirates have resumed their exodus ahead of the new season, with a seventh player being released.

Pirates released six players last month in five days, with many more expected to follow.

Vincent Pule is one of the players who have followed suit. Pule, a fan favourite, had been with the Pirates for six years before being released on Tuesday. The player transferred to the club from the now-defunct Bidvest Wits. However, he has struggled with fitness and injuries in recent seasons. This has inevitably curtailed his participation with the club significantly.

PIRATES RELEASE PULE

It was probably unsurprising that Pirates announced the release of Pule before of next season.

“After six amazing years, Vincent Pule is leaving the Orlando Pirates Football Club. The 32-year-old arrived in 2018 from Bidvest Wits and made an immediate impression for the Mighty Buccaneers.During his stint with the club, Vincent appeared in over 140 games and contributed 35 goals and assists, cementing his reputation with the Soweto Giants. On behalf of the entire Orlando Pirates family, we would like to express our gratitude to Vincent for his contributions to this football club. A wonderful athlete who provided us with incredible moments on the field while also demonstrating the traits of a model professional away from it. Thank you, Vincent. “Once Always” posted a farewell tribute to the left-footed wizard on the club’s website.

SEVEN NOW OUT

Pirates initially released Sauoibou Marou and Fortune Makaringe. Richard Ofori, Kermit Erasmus, Siyabonga Mpontshane, and Thabang Monare all left shortly after.

Makaringe has already found a new home at Cape Town City, and Sekhukhune United is close to signing Monare. It remains to be seen where the others, including Pule, will end up.
