‘Optimistic’ – Ipswich Town star believes they can win every game

Vaclav Hladky, Ipswich Town’s goalkeeper, thinks the team will enter their important Championship run-in feeling they can win every game.

With a 6-0 hammering of Sheffield Wednesday last weekend, Kieran McKenna’s side entered the season’s last international break on a high, having won seven of their last eight games.

And it appears that the Blues will need to create a near-perfect eight-game run if they are to replace Leeds or Leicester in the top two and clinch back-to-back automatic promotions to the Premier League.

“Saturday was probably the best way we could go into an international break,” Hladky stated in a press release.

“The following two weeks will be the same as usual. We have a few days free to heal, but there will be a lot of hard work. There are eight major games ahead of us, and we want to be as prepared as possible.

When asked if the recent run of results gave the players confidence they could achieve something exceptional, the Czech goalkeeper answered, “There is always belief. It’s been this way for two years. The strongest belief is that we can win every game. “We’ll start with the next game.”

Hladky remarked of last weekend’s annihilation of the previously undefeated Owls: “It was enjoyable for everyone in the stadium.” Listen, it appears to be really simple, but you must begin well and overcome some challenges, like we did, before reaping the benefits. Every game presents a challenge, and this one was no exception.

“If you watch our games, you’ll notice that we always create a lot of chances. A lot of our games, particularly here, could have ended like that. This time, almost everything went in.

“They attempted to play and put us under as much pressure as possible. But we’ve been working as a group, with our manager, for two and a half years. They’ve been with their manager for a few months. It makes a difference.

“We’re happy with the clean sheet since we’ve given up too many goals this season. Even when it was 4-0, 5-0, and 6-0, we kept telling each other that we needed to work hard to the finish to get a clean sheet. We accomplished it well.”

Town will return to action on Easter weekend against Blackburn (a) and Southampton (h), followed by games against Norwich (a), Watford (h), Middlesbrough (h), Hull (a), Coventry (a), and Huddersfield (h).
