One of these five PL players should be a concern for Birmingham City

Birmingham City have had a rocky season in the Championship.

The Blues had a promising start to the season under John Eustace before his contentious dismissal in October.

Replacement Wayne Rooney did not fare well, and the squad dropped down the standings before he was eventually replaced.

Tony Mowbray is the current manager, although he has had to step away briefly due to illness, leaving Mark Venus in command of the first team squad.

The Midlands outfit will continue to keep one eye on the summer market, hoping that their quest for survival this season will end positively.

Here are five Premier League players the team could seek in the next summer transfer market.

John Egan

John Egan has struggled with Sheffield United in the Premier League and will be out of contract at the end of the season.

The Irishman may bring a wealth of top-flight experience to St. Andrew’s, bolstering their defensive capabilities.

While his recent injury history is concerning, signing the centre-back could be a wise decision to strengthen their backline if he can stay fit.

Jairo Riedewald

Jairo Riedewald is another player who might bring plenty of top-flight experience to Birmingham this summer.

Ivan Sunjic and Krystian Bielik currently form a formidable partnership for the Blues.

However, depth has shown to be an issue this season, and Riedewald might provide stiff competition for midfield positions.

The 27-year-old is out of favour and out of contract at Crystal Palace, so he may be a good free agent acquisition for the Blues if they can persuade him to move down to the Championship.

Mark O’Mahony

This season, the Brighton forward has been on the margins of the first-team squad at the Amex, but he has yet to break through.

The teenage attacker has shown great promise at youth level, and a loan move to the Championship this summer might be the next stage in his development.

The Irishman could do a lot worse than come to St. Andrew’s, where Mowbray has established himself as an excellent coach for young talents with a lot of promise.

Birmingham could also benefit from more firepower up front, so this may be a great fit for all parties.

Adam Davies

Birmingham attempted to sign a goalkeeper in the waning days of the January window, but were unable to complete a deal.

John Ruddy has been a nice addition to the squad, but it may be time to search for another option to have at their disposal.

Davies is second-choice at Sheffield United, although he is out of contract and may wish to play more often.

A move to St. Andrew’s might provide him with more playing time, thereby increasing his prospects of being selected for the Wales international squad.

Daniel Jebbison

Jebbison demonstrated some potential in prior Championship campaigns with Sheffield United.

However, the forward has been unable to break into the Premier League first team, and his contract at Bramall Lane is now expiring.

A transfer to Birmingham might be a wise next step in his career, strengthening Mowbray’s attacking options.

As a free agent, this would be a reasonably risk-free move for the Blues, adding a talented young forward to their ranks who may see his worth skyrocket if he starts living up to his full potential.
