On the Bears sideline, two Lions players nearly got into a shoving match

The Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears met for the second time in less than a month in Week 14.

For the second time this season, the Bears raced out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. Things got chippy early between the longtime NFC North rivals, with Chicago players fighting for their jobs and the Lions fighting for the top seed in the NFC.

After a near-interception, Detroit linebacker Alex Anzalone shoved Darnell Mooney out of bounds, and a shoving match ensued on the Chicago sideline. Kerby Joseph stepped in to try to save his teammate after multiple Bears players wanted to speak with Anzalone. That’s when he shoved Anzalone, and the two Lions defenders became entangled in the middle of a swarm of Bears. Fortunately, they were able to escape safely.

For a brief moment, it appeared that Anzalone and Joseph were going to get into it, which would make perfect sense to frustrated Detroit fans. This has recently felt like a team of destiny, but the groans have grown louder, despite the fact that they’ve only lost three games all season. Some fan bases will never be satisfied, but that’s life in the NFL. Dan Campbell must be used to it after all those years of unstoppable success.
