On Monday, the Colts submitted two waiver claims, but neither player was granted

The Colts were unable to sign two released players from the league waiver wire due to their recent winning ways.

The Indianapolis Colts made two waiver claims, one on former Jacksonville Jaguars running back JaMycal Hasty and the other on former Houston Texans offensive tackle Austin Deculus, according to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.

Rather, Deculus and Hasty were given to the New York Jets and the New England Patriots, respectively; both teams had a higher waiver priority than the Colts because of their inferior records.

While the Colts have star workhorse Jonathan Taylor and breakout back Zack Moss at the top of their depth chart at running back, the team could yet manage to improve its depth behind them, so neither assertion is particularly shocking.

Trey Sermon is the team’s active third running back at the moment, with Tyler Goodson and Zavier Scott also practicing at that position.

There isn’t another backup offensive lineman listed on the team’s depth chart, despite the fact that rookie Blake Freeland has persevered, starting at offensive tackle in place of both Braden Smith and Bernhard Raimann at different points this season.

The team’s practice squad does not now include any offensive tackles.

To be honest, it’s surprising that the Colts haven’t attempted to go a little deeper at offensive tackle—perhaps the only position other than cornerback. Although it’s conceivable, do you really want starting left guard Quenton Nelson or backup guard Arlington Hambright to switch to offensive tackle in an emergency?

Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like Hasty or Deculus will be joining the Colts anytime soon.
