Omari Hutchinson clarifies Chelsea transfer position after Ipswich Premier League success

Omari Hutchinson has been a significant player for Ipswich Town this season, helping the club clinch a return to the Premier League after a 22-year absence.

Omari Hutchinson, a Chelsea loanee, has indicated a wish to return to Ipswich Town next season after helping the club end its 22-year hiatus from the Premier League.

Hutchinson scored as Ipswich Town defeated Huddersfield Town and earned back-to-back promotions on Saturday. The teenager added to Wes Burns’ breakthrough at Portman Road, defeating the Terriers 2-0 to secure the Championship’s second automatic promotion position, according to the Express.

The Tractor Boys were seen as the underdogs in an intriguing three-way contest for Premier League football, against Leicester City and Leeds United. Kieran McKenna had previously guided the club to promotion from League One, but Leicester and Leeds were aiming for an instant return to the top flight.

While the former won first place, Hutchinson helped Ipswich finish second, forcing Leeds into the dreaded play-offs. The 20-year-old joined Ipswich on loan from Chelsea last summer for regular football after making his first two senior outings in 2022/23.

Hutchinson started the season as a reserve but rapidly established himself as a regular starter. He scored 11 goals and provided six assists in 50 games this season, prompting speculation that Mauricio Pochettino could use him at Stamford Bridge next season.

Despite partying hard following Ipswich Town’s promotion, the club’s Jamaican ace has underlined his desire to remain with the club for their historic return to the Premier League. In response to concerns about his future ambitions with Ipswich, he stated, “I hope so.” I do not know.”

“I’ll have to see what my agent is saying and what the manager is saying and then go from there,” he said. “I do not know. I just want to revel for the moment.”

Town manager Paul Cook, who has openly praised Hutchinson’s services in recent months, will certainly be delighted to have him back at Portman Road.

“He has provided everything you would expect from a loan player and more. “He’s young and has a lot of potential, but he’d never played senior football before this season,” the manager revealed in an interview with Sky Sports. “I really liked his mentality, and we were on the same page as him, his family and his representation about what he needed, not just in terms of minutes but also development.”

“He came into the club with the appropriate application and soon learned what it takes to succeed. That immediately attracted him to the veteran players, and he has built on that throughout the season.”

“He’s reaching a good level, but he’s still very young. It won’t be a straight path from here, but he has a lot of potential and a great mindset for attaining it.”

Pochettino will undoubtedly want to get down with Hutchinson this summer. The starlet’s outstanding season, along with Chelsea’s attack leaving much to be desired for parts of this season, has given the Argentine much to ponder about during the summer.
