Oklahoma football LB skips the NFL Draft in 2024 and returns to the program

Oklahoma football linebacker Danny Stutsman has returned to the program for one year after opting out of the NFL Draft in 2024.

The moment has come for players to decide whether to enter the NFL Draft or play one more season of college football to improve their draft stock. Danny Stutsman of the Oklahoma Sooners was one athlete whose decision was up in the air.

Stutsman, on the other hand, put a solid statement on X on Monday, announcing his choice to play one more year for the Oklahoma football program.

In 2023, the junior linebacker was a standout for the Oklahoma football team. He had 47 solo tackles, three sacks, and an interception in 2022 after having 51 tackles, two sacks, and two interceptions in 2021.

Following Oklahoma’s victory over Texas (the Longhorns’ sole loss of the season), Stutsman and other players went viral for wearing shirts that suggested the Longhorns dreaded the Sooners, and Texas player Xavier Worthy clapped back in an amusing back and forth.

The Oklahoma football program has already lost a couple players to the transfer portal, with quarterback Dillon Gabriel revealing his plan to attend Oregon.

The Sooners will join Texas in the new SEC in 2024, therefore the Red River Rivalry will continue for the two programs. After winning the Big 12, the Longhorns advanced to the College Football Playoff, and Oklahoma’s victory over the Longhorns will be remembered for a long time.

Brent Venables and the Oklahoma football team will look for a new quarterback and other weapons, but having Danny Stutsman return as one of the defensive pillars is a huge step forward.
