Ohio State’s CB will return in 2024

Another major piece of the Ohio State Buckeyes’ 2023 secondary is returning.

On defense, the Ohio State Buckeyes will seem very familiar in 2024.

Despite finishing the season with perhaps the best defense in the country, with many players grading out as Day 1 or Day 2 picks, Ohio State appears to be returning a slew of talent from that unit.

On Wednesday, cornerback Jordan Hancock became the latest to announce his intention to return, doing so on X.

“Breaking News,” Hancock wrote on Twitter. “Jordan Hancock will be returning for his senior year at Ohio State”

Hancock was the third Buckeyes defender to announce his return on Wednesday, following fellow corner Denzel Burke and offensive lineman Donovan Jackson.

Along with Burke and safety Lathan Ransom, he is the third major component of the secondary to choose to remain for another season. With the return of Sonny Styles and corner Davison Igbonosun, the Buckeyes should have one of the top secondary units in the country.

Hancock has appeared in 19 games for the Buckeyes in three seasons, recording 48 tackles, two interceptions, and two sacks.

However, he had 41 tackles, two sacks, two tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, five passes defended, and two interceptions, one of which he recovered for a touchdown against Rutgers this past season.

The other selection came in the Buckeyes’ mid-November triumph over Minnesota.
