Ohio State wide receiver shines in the 2024 All-American Bowl

On Saturday, Ohio State Buckeyes commit Jeremiah Smith led Team East in the 2024 All-American Bowl.

Team East would eventually lose 31-28 to Team West, but the future Buckeyes receiver had a spectacular performance that distinguished him from the other big names on the field.

Smith began the game with a pass rather than a grab. Team East executed a trick play, putting the ball in Smith’s hands, but the receiver was unable to hit his target downfield, resulting in an incomplete pass.

Smith, on the other hand, did not take long to rehabilitate himself. A few plays later, Arizona Wildcats quarterback Demond Williams found Smith in the endzone for a 22-yard touchdown reception, giving either club its first points of the game.

Following Smith’s touchdown reception, Ohio State offensive tackle Ian Moore was the first player to greet him, tossing him into the air in celebration. Moore and Smith were two of five signees who competed in the All-American Bowl for the Buckeyes, along with defensive end Eddrick Houston, running back James Peoples, and linebacker Garrett Stover. Smith’s score and outstanding effort throughout the game won him All-American Player of the Year accolades after the game.

Since the transfer portal opened in December, the Ohio State receiving room has lost several key players. Starter Julian Fleming and rising star Bryson Rogers have decided to transfer, and Heisman candidate Marvin Harrison Jr. has yet to decide whether to return to the Buckeyes or declare for the 2024 NFL Draft.

Smith is currently slated to play a significant part in the Ohio State offense next season, alongside freshmen Carnell Tate and Brandon Inniss.
