The Buckeyes made the cut for a five-star quarterback over the holiday weekend, and then they got even better news.

Ohio State makes cut for 2026 5-star QB
Following the early signing period, Ohio State’s 2024 recruiting class is nearly complete. According to 247Sports, the Buckeyes currently boast the No. 6 class, with 20 recruits who have signed National Letters of Intent to play at Ohio State.
Air Noland, a five-star quarterback, is one of the class’s top prospects. The incoming freshman appears to have a chance to start for the squad next year, but returning signal callers Devin Brown and Lincoln Kienholz will do everything they can to keep him at bay. In addition, four-star quarterback Tavien St. Clair of Ohio has committed to the Buckeyes in the 2025 class.
With all of this current and future talent at quarterback, the Ohio State coaching staff has to be pleased with where they stand. But, as the Buckeyes have discovered in recent years, nothing is ever guaranteed with NIL and the evolution of the transfer portal. Because of this, the Buckeyes are already pursuing the best at the position in the 2026 recruiting class, and the Buckeyes received excellent news over the holiday weekend.
Jared Curtis, a five-star quarterback in 2026, revealed his top six schools, and Ohio State was one of them.
Curtis’ top schools included Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, and Texas A&M, in addition to the Buckeyes.
Curtis had long been a target for the Buckeyes, who made him an offer in May. He has yet to visit school on a recruiting visit, but the Buckeyes will do everything they can to bring him on campus several times in the coming years.
While Curtis is officially down to six schools, it appears that one team has emerged from the pack, and that squad is Ohio State. On the same day Curtis announced his top schools list, 247Sports Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong made a 247Sports Crystal Ball prediction in favor of the Buckeyes.
These forecasts are far from certain, but they do provide valuable insight into how a recruit is feeling at any particular time. Wiltfong is also one of the finest at what he does, therefore when he makes a prognosis, it is reasonable to believe it.
Curtis may also aim to end his recruiting early and commit to a program sooner rather than later. However, with NIL becoming a consideration, recruitments never appear totally guaranteed until the LOI is signed — especially these long in advance. Having said that, the Buckeyes must be pleased with where they stand with Curtis.
Curtis is ranked No. 2 among quarterbacks and No. 20 overall in the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He is also the top recruit in Tennessee.
