Ohio State Football Hires Highly Respected Pass Rush Guru for…

In the ever-expanding Big Ten, Ohio State’s football program will strive to remain a top-tier squad next fall.

In 2024, the hyper-competitive conference will welcome Oregon, UCLA, USC, and Washington, all of which made bowl games last season (with Washington winning the title), to the now-18-team league.

Ohio State football coach Ryan Day receives pay raise for 2023 season

The Buckeyes continue to make high-profile changes, including at quarterback, but on Thursday, they made a less-publicized adjustment to their coaching staff.

According to NFL source Aaron Wilson, Ohio State has signed pass-rushing coach Brandon Jordan as a defensive assistant.

The Buckeyes made another huge coaching decision earlier this month, selecting Chip Kelly, the head coach of the UCLA Bruins, as their next offensive coordinator.

Kelly was hired by Ohio State after playcaller Bill O’Brien expressed interest in the Boston College head coaching position.

Brandon Jordan will work with the Ohio State defense next season.

On Thursday, Ohio State football hired defensive line guru Brandon Jordan as a coach. Jordan spent the 2023 season as a pass-rush specialist for the Seattle Seahawks.

Boye Mafe, a second-year edge rusher, recorded a team-high nine sacks, double his total from the previous year. The Seahawks ended with 47 sacks, ranking 11th in the NFL. Jordan held the same position with the Michigan State Spartans prior to joining the Seahawks.

Jordan will become the Buckeyes’ third defensive line coach. He will collaborate with Larry Johnson and graduate assistant LaAllan Clark. Johnson is beginning his 11th season with the Buckeyes, while Clark is starting his second.

According to Aaron Wilson, Brandon Jordan, the defensive line coach, has worked with future Hall of Famer T.J. Watt, Packers defensive rusher Rashan Gary, free agency Michael Brockers, and Texans linemen Jonathan Greenard and Maliek Collins.

Ohio State Football: Looking to Return to the Big Ten Title Game

From 2017 to 2020, the Ohio State Buckeyes won four consecutive Big Ten Championships and have yet to return. Their adversary, the Michigan Wolverines, have represented the Big Ten East for the past three seasons.

During that time, the Buckeyes have been unable to defeat the Wolverines in their yearly meeting, resulting in Ohio State’s failure to win the East division championship.

Jim Harbaugh, Michigan’s head coach, left for the NFL’s Los Angeles Chargers after the Wolverines won the title last season. Ohio State’s latest conference loss to a team other than Michigan came in 2018 against the Purdue Boilermakers.
