Ohio State Buckeyes Transfer WR Finds New Destination

Kyion Grayes, a former Ohio State Buckeyes receiver, joined the transfer portal last month.

The Ohio State Buckeyes have an excess of talent in the receiving room heading into the 2024 season, leading in a natural exit to the transfer portal for players wishing to advance their careers elsewhere.

One former Buckeye has found a place for him.

Ohio State transfer receiver Kyion Grayes announced on social media Sunday that he has committed to Cal for the 2024 season after spending the previous two years in Columbus.

Grayes, a four-star prospect from Chandler, Ariz. in the 2022 recruiting class, caught only one ball for two yards as a Buckeye. He appeared in two games, totaling 13 plays against Iowa and Toledo. Grayes was one of 13 early enrollees that arrived ahead of spring ball in January 2022.

The Buckeyes, led by receivers coach Brian Hartline, have a loaded WR corps for the next season. After losing Marvin Harrison Jr. to the 2024 NFL Draft, Ohio State signed five-star freshman Jeremiah Smith and renewed Emeka Egbuka and Carnell Tate for another season.

Ohio State’s 2024 season begins on Saturday, August 31 at home against Akron, as coach Ryan Day and his team try to make their imprint in the new-style Big Ten.
