O’Connell is an outstanding QB for the Raiders

Las Vegas Raiders Tom Telesco and Antonio Pierce have a lot of decisions to make this offseason, including who will be the starting quarterback going forward.

Some choices include signing an experienced quarterback, selecting a quarterback in this year’s 2024 NFL Draft, or sticking with Aidan O’Connell. In his rookie season with the Raiders, O’Connell displayed several sparks that made him an intriguing quarterback and put the rest of the league on notice, finishing the 2023-24 NFL regular season with a 5-4 record and 3-1 in the AFC West.

In the most recent episode of the Las Vegas Raiders Insider Podcast, our Hondo Carpenter Sr. mentioned and analyzed why O’Connell is an intriguing quarterback prospect for the Raiders.

Carpenter was joined on the recent episode by Matt Hladik, thespun.com’s editor and publisher. Hladik had the opportunity to express his thoughts on O’Connell.

“The Raiders’ own division has Mahomes and Herbert. You have some guys that are extremely talented. At least this offseason, Aidan O’Connell isn’t enough to keep me from getting another quarterback.

But if I don’t feel comfortable trading for one of those three players.” “I don’t have a problem if I’m the Raiders keeping Aidan on adding a vet if you do or adding a vet and adding another quarterback who’s outside of that top three in the draft and kind of bringing him in see where they fit.”

His floor is that of a solid career backup, but depending on how he develops, he might become a capable starter across the league.

From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be hosted in Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. The NFL Draft will take place in Detroit, Michigan, on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders presently have the 13th overall pick.
