Nottingham Forest target £25 million-rated midfielder that they scouted before signing Ibrahim Sangare

Nottingham Forest is currently looking to sign a player who was scouted by the club before signing Ibrahim Sangare last summer.

The Reds will be active in the transfer market this summer, regardless of which division they are in.

Forest will most likely favor outgoing business, with financial fair play remaining, but some new additions will be made as well.

Sangare joined for £30 million when Brennan Johnson left, and he became the club’s record signing when he transferred from PSV.

Forest are reportedly looking to recruit a player who was courted as an option to the Ivorian last summer.

Nottingham Forest want Mandela Keita

The defensive midfielder will be in high demand this summer, and Royal Antwerp are reportedly hoping to strike gold.

According to Het Nieuwsblad, Forest, Manchester United, and West Ham are all interested in signing him during the transfer window.

According to reports, Blackburn, Leeds, and Norwich are all keeping a close eye on the midfielder as the transfer season begins.

The Belgian club hopes to strike gold with Keita, who is valued at slightly more than £25 million.

Antwerp will buy the player from OH Leuven when his loan expires in the summer, but he could soon be on his way to England.

Who is Mandela Keita?

The player usually plays in the middle of the park and serves as an anchor in the center of midfield.

Although the guy has three assists this season, it’s safe to assume that his strengths are on the defensive end.

Keita is the ninth-best center midfielder in the Jupiler Pro League when it comes to tackling, with 84 from 21 games.

According to Who Scored, he has made 41 interceptions and 968 accurate short throws this season.

Keita, 21, came up through the youth ranks at Leuven and spent some time on the books with Genk in his early career.

In 2023, the player was rewarded for some fine club form and earned a chance on the international stage with Belgium.

Keita signing could be bad news for Sangare

We believe it makes little sense to have Keita and Sangare in the squad because their data indicate they execute identical duties.

If Keita joins Forest, it might be the end for Sangare, and the club may believe they can recoup their investment.

The 26-year-old hasn’t been too horrible for Forest, but he hasn’t lived up to the high price tag.

Still, the Ivorian arguably deserves a full pre-season at the City Ground, where supporters may witness the best of Sangare in a Forest shirt.

Keita has bigger clubs wanting him than Forest, but if he does land on the banks of the Trent, Sangare may leave the club.
